TV: Capital - Marxism and Hegemony
Re-read the Mail Online review of Capital. Why does it suggest that Capital features a left-wing ideology?
They feature a left wing ideology through the ways that they portray their characters for example they portra they portray the people who are being seen as immigrates by some people as very genuine and polite people as shown in numerous scenes they seem to care more about other than they care about themselves. However the rodger family seem to be a bit greedy and care about money only they fail to see the positive parts of things.
Choose three quotes from the review that are particularly critical of Capital and paste them into your blogpost. Do you agree with the criticisms? Why?
2) But by the finish we were left staring at the proverbial damp squib.
I agree with this because we were left very confused at the end for example we weren't really sure about what was going to happen in the next episode for example rogers wife left him with the children and the lady was about to be deported.
"Everything British came in for a dose of loathing. When investment banker Roger muttered something self-deprecating, one of the immigrant characters snarled, with real anger: ‘Ah! The Great British understatement!’
I personally agree with this statement because it speaks about the two different parts in this show it speaks about rodger and it speaks about the immigrants as well it speaks about life in the real world.
1)But that concept went nowhere. The residents were bemused, but not scared.
I agree with this to some extent because it was getting hard to follow the plot at some points of the show and it wasnt really engaging in many of its story lines for example they spoke about the photographs but they never really explained anything about them.
What scenes or characters from Capital could be read as promoting left-wing ideology?
One scene from the show that supports left wing ideology was when the brother was taking down the posters of the naked women this shows that he is very serious about his religious and believes in it strongly.
